How to turn a zip into one PDF
A folder of scans, a set of receipts, the chapters of a report sent as separate files: a zip is how they usually arrive, and one PDF is how they usually need to leave.
- Drop the .zip file on the box at the top.
- Check the list of files that will go in, and the order they are in.
- Press Make the PDF.
- The PDF is saved with the name of the zip.
What goes in, and in what order
PDFs go in with all their pages. Each picture (JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP, BMP) gets a page shaped like the picture. Text files are set as clean pages of text. Anything else, such as a Word file or a spreadsheet, is named on screen as left out - convert it with the matching tool on this site, then zip it again.
The order is the order of the file names, counted the way a person counts: page 2 comes before page 10. To change the order, rename the files 01, 02, 03 and zip them again. Files inside folders are included, and the hidden files a Mac adds to every zip are skipped.
Good to know
- Can I use a zip with a password?
- No. A locked zip cannot be opened here. Unzip it on your computer, then zip the files again without a password.
- What if one file in the zip is broken?
- The rest still go in, and the broken one is named on screen so you know it is missing.
- Is the zip uploaded?
- No. It is unpacked by your browser, and the PDF is made on your computer.
